Storyline[]
Using their tax refund money, Jefferson and Al bet heavily on a college football game that they are guaranteed to win. But that's before Tremaine's prized, not-so-bright quarterback Chad, who is being tutored by Bud, falls in love with Kelly, whom she pleasantly distracts from his training; in helping Chad study, Kelly manages to injure him. Al, who was first trying to find a way to keep them apart at all costs, he then finds out that other shady parties have also bet heavily on the game as well, as he, hilariously, winds up playing in the game himself!

Quotes[]
- [Peg is sitting at the kitchen table and mixing up some sort of chocolate batter]
- Peg: You know, Al, I know how you could spend that refund. I saw this nice bonbon maker on the Home Shopping Network. It would make my life a lot easier.
- Al: Peg, if your life was any easier, you'd be in an urn in the garage.
- Peg: Alright, Al, now close your eyes. I want you to tell me which one of these bonbons you like better.
- [Al closes his eyes and puts his beer down on the table, as Peggy reaches underneath a cloth that is draped over the bonbons and proceeds to give him a bite-size piece]
- Peg:: I'm not gonna tell you which one is mine.
- Al: Alright Peg. [puts the small bonbon in his mouth and chews its for a second, then shrugs] Not bad.
- Peg: Okay. Now... [pulls the cloth back to reveal a much larger bonbon] This one.
- [Peggy picks it up and puts the large bonbon in Al's hand, causing his arm to immediately drop down to the table. After struggling to bring it up to his mouth, Al bites into it. As he struggles to chew the bonbon, an overlay of a clock's face appears onscreen to visually show that an hour has passed before Al finally finishes chewing on it]
- Peg: So, what do you think?
- Al: Well, it's... got a lot of Tang. [picks up his beer and walks towards the couch]
- Peg: Well, it should. I used a whole jar of it! [proudly smiles and chuckles while holding up a bottle of Tang orange juice powder] Oh... Alright now, Al. Tell me what you think, and be honest.
- Al: Don't quit your day couch, Peg.
- Bud: Dad, I gotta ask you a question.
- Al: Because we get horny and don't have the sense to say "no".
- Bud: No. Not.. Not that question, Dad.
- Al: Well, that's the only one I have an answer to, Son.
- Bud: [walks around and takes a seat next to Al] Dad, why is life so unfair? I mean, I go to college and get good grades.
- Al: Yes, you do, Son.
- Bud: I'm certainly good looking. [Al stops short of responding and twiddles his fingers] Yet, some imbecile football player, with the I.Q. of Buck gets girls, while I get nothing.
- [a close up of Buck sitting on the staircase is shown]
- Buck: [v.o.] The secret of attracting the opposite sex is in the mutual sniffing of butt.
- Al: Bud, let me tell you something. I was once that imbecile. I was once that football player. And if it makes you feel any better, I am what becomes of them. They have jobs like mine, houses like mine and children like mine. I am your revenge.
- Bud: So... you'd trade places with me?
- Al: [grinning] Are you kidding? Hehehe.
Notes[]
Title[]
- The title of this episode is a reference to the American football phrase, "Go Deep!" or "...Goes Deep!" , which means a receiver is to run down the field as the quarterback attempts a long pass.
Trivia[]
- During Jefferson's plea to Al for help, he mentions that he did something terrible, before Al says, "I know! I was at the wedding!". This is a direct reference to the season 5 episode "[Married... with Who?]]", where Al is left in charge of organizing the wedding between Jefferson and Marcy.
- It is revealed that Jefferson has his own housemaid.
- Al says that his tax refund came out to $17.34
- Al explains to Chad about why didn't play college football. He says that Peggy was his girlfriend at the time and had a habit of yelling at him during the games. At one game, she yelled at him just as a 300lb linebacker came at him, knocking him out.
- Peggy is shown making use of Tang to make her Bonbons.
- Chad Dowling is the second son Al wanted.
Cultural References[]
- During Al and Jefferson's conversation at the beginning of the episode, Al mentions that he believes Marcy will be a member of the Hair Club for Men by next year.
- HairClub (formerly known as "Hair Club for Men") is a company that specializes in hair restoration and hair replacement for men and women.
- After Chad tells Al that Bud said his real dad was a Green Beret who went missing during a recon mission, Al then tells him that Bud's mother was the late Totie Fields, a comedian who died in 1978.
- During Marcy's sugar rush, as she runs around the couch, she says "Gee I wonder what's on TV. It's Sunday. Oh no, Carlin's on!" This is in reference to the FOX sitcom The George Carlin Show which began airing in January 1994, four months before this episode aired. It aired on Sundays at 9:30pm, with Married... with Children serving as its lead-in.
- The sitcom also featured MWC guest stars Mike Hagerty and Iqbal Theba.
- During Al's plea to Chad, he mentions that Kelly has ruined the lives of men since she was conceived, before listing off several famous names who were accused of cheating:
- Swaggert - Jimmy Swaggart American Pentecostal evangelist, who in 1988 was caught in a prostitution scandal. He later confessed to the congregation, saying "Lord I have sinned!" as he cried. This would later be parodied by Al in the season 10 episode, "Reverend Al"
- Bakker - Jim Bakker, American televangelists, who was caught in a sex scandal involving employee Jessica Hahn who later appeared on MWC as Ricki, Al's shoe groupie in "So This is How Sinatra Felt" and lived with MWC co-creator Ron Leavitt,
- Kennedy - John F. Kennedy U.S. President, who was believed to have had multiple affairs with women (and possibly men) during his marriage and into his presidency, with the most notable being actress Marylin Monroe.
- Al then mentions several more Kennedys. This list can be implied to include Joseph P. Kennedy II (son of JFK's brother Robert) who had his marriage annulled by the Roman Catholic Church in order to marry one of his former staffers in 1993 and family patriarch, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., who was also known for having several extramarital affairs, which included his personal secretary and actresses Gloria Swanson and Marlene Dietrich.
- Swaggart again - Referring to Jimmy Swaggart again, following his 1988 scandal, he was caught in another prositiution scandal in 1991.

Goofs[]
- Al mentions that Jefferson hasn't worked in 3 years. Yet he had a job as a topless bartender at the Manhole bar during season 7 which took place a year prior.
- Al and Jefferson bet their tax refund money on a college football game. That would be very difficult since the football season for colleges typically begins in September and ends around January, while this episode takes place sometime in May.
- In addition, tax filings are due by April 15 and take some time for processing before checks are mailed out.
- When Al arrives home and Marcy speeds past him during her sugar rush, the door is left wide upon. A few moments later, after it cuts to Marcy in the backyard chopping wood, it then goes back to Al and the door is somehow fully shut and remains that way until Kelly arrives with Chad.
