Background[]
Jefferson invites Al to go with him a memorabilia auction, with the intent to buy an original Barbie doll for Marcy's birthday. Although Al does not want to go at first, Peggy comes home with a concertina, which causes him to change his mind and take off with Jefferson
At the auction house, Jefferson reveals that he only has $2,000 for Marcy's birthday gift. The Auctioneer then presents the 1st issue of Big 'Uns , still in its plastic, causing Al to instantly place a bid for $1,200, making him the winner. Although Jefferson points out Al doesn't have money and the money he brought with him was the money he took from Marcy in order to buy her a birthday present, he eventually relents and decides to see if there is a chance that he can get a Barbie for $800.
Just then, the Barbiephile, who was sitting behind Al and Jefferson, informs him that he will have difficulty finding a Barbie for that amount. He then proceeds to explain his plan to get the "Woodstock Barbie", describing the fine details of the doll, and his willingness to spend up to $10,000 for it, which creeps out Al.
Sometime later, after Jefferson learns that the "Nurse Barbie" he bought is actually worth more than he paid for (due to it having a defect), he sets out a plan to sell it off to the Barbiephile. But in order to do so, Jefferson needs Al to sleep next Marcy while he is out to avoid suspicion.
Several hours later, Jefferson returns home, telling Al that the Barbiephile paid him $50,000 and also gave him a non-defective "Nurse Barbie", but lost the money after he stopped at casino to gamble.
