Bonbons is the name of two similar snack foods that is consumed primarily by Peggy Bundy on Married... with Children.
Original Version[]
Bonbon is defined as a small chocolate confection of French origin. In France, bonbons are usually made with a fruit center, but may also contain other fillings such as brittle, nougat, liqueur, or caramel and covered in a molded hard chocolate shell. They are bite sized, individually wrapped and typically made in small artisanal batches. In France, by law, a Bonbon de chocolate must be at least 25% chocolate and can be served as a bite size piece, an arrangement of different chocolates or a mixture of chocolate and other flavors.
In other western countries, bonbons are similar to the French version, but may also include ingredients found only certain regions.
An example of this type of bonbons is in the season 4 episode, "Dead Men Don't Do Aerobics" when Peggy eventually convinces Jim Jupiter to let her partake in a bonbon instead of working out. After doing so, he becomes lazy like her, saying he likes the strawberry flavored ones while watching Oprah with her and eventually dies on television.
In "Al Goes Deep", Peggy tries to make her own bonbons made with a full jar of Tang. Her version appears to be rather huge and takes about an hour to consume just one bite, as Al and Jefferson demonstrated.
Nestle Ice Cream Version[]
BonBons is name of a frozen treat originally released by Carnation and later by The Nestle Co. it consist of bite size nuggets of vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate. Although popular in the mid 1980s and into the 1990s, they were eventually replaced with a similar product called Dibs.
This type of bonbon can be seen primarily during season 10 and 11, as it is served in the recognizable ice cream container it came in during the 1990s (though with the Nestle logo removed). It is primarily eaten by Peggy in episodes such as "A Shoe Room with a View", though in some episodes, Kelly is the one eating them in episodes such as "Live Nude Peg" or Jefferson after he stays at the Bundy Residence in "Kiss of the Coffee Woman". It is also responsible for Peggy slipping and suffering from amnesia in "The Stepford Peg"
It can also be seen going back to season 1 in episodes such as "But I Didn't Shoot the Deputy", with Peggy eating them from the older, shorter container used during the 1980s.
