Married with Children Wiki

Season 1[]

Pilot[]

  • Alexa's date, Cobra, whose real name is Benito, has a split tongue due to a performance accident at a rave and when he arrives, his van horn plays the French national anthem, "La Marseillaise".
    • In the original U.S. version, Kelly's date, Cobra, whose real name is Stanley, has a sore on his mouth due to a cigar burn and his nickname comes from the cobra painted on his van. His van plays the opening theme to the television show, Dragnet.

Thinnergy[]

  • in the original, Peggy is eating a carrot and talking about the benefits of healthy eating, while the rest of the family wolfs down cereal. Al then asks the kids what they want to eat for dinner, with Kelly suggesting pizza, while Bud chimes in and request meatballs. Peg then goes to say that she'll be eating grapefruit.
    • In this version, Poncho and the kids are eating cereal, but with more sugary extras, as he is seen adding in chocolate syrup while Alexa adds hazelnut spread into her bowl. They also eat other pastries, as the kids are heard saying "Doughnuts", while Poncho is shown with a mini muffin and adding jam to it. Alexa then suggests pizza for dinner like Kelly did, but instead of meatballs, Jonathan requests Chilaquiles. Afterward, Angie mentions that she will have chayote instead. Unlike the original, Poncho then mocks her by asking the kids if pizza with extra cheese or chayote sounds more delicious, causing everyone to point and laugh at Angie, who then gets up and leaves the table.
  • When Poncho arrives at work, Luis is shown wearing a neck brace and a cast on his arm. He then asks Poncho if he had found Angie in bed with another man, how would he react. He tells his co-worker that he would at least break his arm, causing Luis to realize that the husband of the women he slept with wasn't exaggerating. In the original, Luke asks the same question, but he did not have any injuries.
  • Unlike the original, where Luke gets Al and Steve to give Sandy (Season 1) their opinion on her no bra look as heterosexual men, Luis convinces the female customer that Poncho and Esteban are actually a gay couple and would be more neutral when giving their opinion on her no bra look. After giving their approval, Esteban continues to hold Poncho's hand even as she prepares to leave and then rest his head on Poncho's shoulder, despite him being clearly disgusted by it.
  • Near the end, instead of the cream filled pastry that Al shoved into Peg's mouth, Poncho gives her a concha (Mexican sweet bread)

Sixteen Years and What Do You Get?[]

  • Instead of getting an expensive watch, Poncho attempted to purchase a newer smartphone for Angie before his card was declined.
  • Bobo and Marcel are changed into a trio of guitarists and a Japanese chef.

Married... without Children[]

  • Instead of punks Sean, Dweep and Debbie, the friends that Alexa brings over are all normal teenage females who also seem to be on good terms with her brother.
  • After buying fast food for the kids, Alexa then gives Marilú what appears to be a pot brownie, leading to an all-night party.
  • Unlike the original ending, Poncho and Angie arrive to see Jonathan making out with one of Alexa's friends and Marilú twerking in front of the now larger group of teens.

The Poker Game[]

  • In the original, Al was looking through a catalog to find a fishing pole that he wants to buy, while in this version, Poncho uses his phone to look for a retro style jersey from his favorite futbol / soccer team, Atlante F.C.. He tries to justify his desire to buy it, claiming that its what real fans of the sport buy to show their affection.
  • Esteban explains that Marliu needs the car for her "reunion unidas contra el patriarcado" (united meeting against the patriarchy). In the original, Steve simply said it was her "women's group meeting".
  • After Paco tells Esteban that it is his poker night and can't give him a ride home, Angie sarcastically thanks him for another Friday night where she has to stay home instead of going out as a couple. He then tells her that she is going to be alone as she has the television to entertain herself. In the original, Al tries to defend his choice to play poker, by telling Peg that she really does not want to go out on a Friday night when every other couple is already going out that night.
  • Instead of Russ' Apartment, Poncho and his friends gamble inside the shoe store after the mall has closed.
  • Unlike the original, Luke Ventura's Mexican counterpart, Luis Ventura, appears in the episode and gambles with Poncho and his friends. He appears to be filling in for Russ.
  • Instead of Peggy offering Marcy some sort of snack with her coffee, Angie offers Marilu botanita (lit. "little flower", referring to a small appetizer plate, more commonly referred to as "botana") while pouring alcohol into their glasses as they talk about the waitress.
  • During their talk about the perfect woman, Poncho mentions Colombian singer-songwriter, Shakira.
  • The Mexican version of E.J. in this episode has to leave early because his wife asked him to take her to a romantic film. In the original, he was taking her to a ballet performance.
  • When asked to play after E.J. leaves, Esteban implies that he does not want to because of his religious principles, believing that gambling is from the devil. In the original, Steve simply said that he doesn't believe in gambling.
  • Poncho ends up winning 15,000 pesos (roughly $812 US). In the original, Al ends up winning $300, which in 2025, would be about $856.
  • Similar to how Al gave Peg jewelry to sneak in his fishing pool, Poncho gives Angie a gold necklace in order to sneak in the framed jersey that he bought.
  • Unlike the original, when Steve arrives with Marilú and knocks on the door, it then cuts to Angie and Poncho in bed underneath the sheets, implying that they are having sex. They proceed to stop and giggle for a moment as they hear Steve ask for his money before resuming their activity. When the now upset Marilú asks where the money is, Steve tells her that she looks beautiful, which causes her to smile and the two share a kiss outside the Olivera residence.

Peggy Sue Got Work[]

  • In the adaptation of "Peggy Sue Got Work", Angie works as a greeter at the bank where Marilu and Steve work at instead of the clock department at Muldin's.

Al Loses His Cherry[]

  • The stewardesses are friends instead of twin sisters like Sherry Cherry and Terry Cherry and are originally from Spain. They also arrive at Luis' apartment in their stewardess outfits.

Where's the Boss?[]

  • In the original, Peggy uses an electric can opener to open up a small can of tuna while preparing dinner. In this version, Angie struggles to open it and eventually stabs the can with a pair of pliers, which causes some liquid to spill onto her face.
  • Angie mention that the dinner is a special event and indicates that was due to Alexa being accepted into a regular high school, after her modeling school kicked her out. In the original, Peg says that they are celebrating due to Kelly moving on to the next grade, while pointing out that its not every year that she can move on up to the next grade level.
  • Gary is renamed to "Andre Dior" though he is also referred to as "Andrew" / "Andy".
  • Steve explains that following Andres airplane crash, he landed on a virgin island in the Caribbeans and bought it.
  • Unlike the original, it specifies at one point that 30 days have since passed since Poncho quit his job.
  • In the original, Kelly comes in with the newspaper and sarcastically asks who put her in the want ad, describing her as a "cheap, blonde, 16 looks 30, seeks job out of state, no reading or writing please". In this version, Alexa comes downstairs with her phone and points out the classified ad that has her personal number that reads: "edecan de supermercado sin experiencia busca trabajo. entre mas lejos de la ciudad, mejor. analfabeta professional". (Supermarket cashier with no experience is looking for a job. The further from the city, the better. Professionally illiterate).
  • Unlike the original, the Mexican counterpart of Luke Ventura, Luis, is still working at the store.
  • When Poncho decides to leave, he and Luis have a touching goodbye, where Poncho hands him his shoehorn and keys, and asks Luis to remember him whenever he finds himself dealing with a fat and ugly customer is bothering him or is trying to return worn out shoes past the exchange date. As he finally exits and the guests shut the door on him, he stops to see everyone else celebrating except for Luis.
  • After Gary arrived, Al took him to the backroom to pay him off, revealing that he is actually Al's friend, Nick. In this version, Poncho and Andres go outside of the store and talk in the walking path, but are within viewing distance from the family and Luis. It is implied that Poncho hired him from a canteen / bar and paid him 500 pesos.

Johnny Be Gone[]

  • Poncho and Angie are set to go to a taco restaurant instead of a diner for hamburger and french fries.
  • Poncho also reveals that his record was eating 34 al pastor tacos and that his technique to eat that much involved him taking a particular stance to eat and then waddling like a penguin.

Season 2[]

Buck Can Do It[]

  • Instead of the Chainsaw Killer and Hockey Mask Killer appearing in Al's nightmare, the killers are a trio of muscular men with tattoos and carry brass knuckles, a metal pipe and nunchakus.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Part 1)[]

  • The woman who is hired to work on the fridge is actually a stripper with no real experience doing repairs. She then has Poncho pay 3000 pesos in advance and warns him that touching is not allowed. After Estaban arrives and they watch her dance in the kitchen, she tells them that a minimum tip for her is 1000 pesos. Although Estaban pays her a tip, Poncho slides the money into her underwear, due to Estaban being too nervous to do so. After Marilu catches Estaban staring at the repair woman, she also complains to her as well, saying that she did not expect this type of service. The repair woman then leaves and tells Poncho to call her again.

The Razor's Edge[]

  • when Estaban arrives at the Olivares in the morning to apologize, Poncho jokes that he looks like "cristo de iztapalapa" (The Christ of Iztapalapa) with his beard, in reference to the Passion Play of Iztapalapa.

Earth Angel[]

  • Instead of Bud bringing home a hitchhiking art student named Tiffany, Alexa invites her Brazilian yoga teacher to come and stay with them.
  • Poncho rejects Alexa's request and suggest that her teacher can pay for a place to stay at. Alexa then points out that her teacher can't because she is a "free spirited anti-capitalist".
  • After meeting the teacher, Poncho becomes smitten with her, much to Angie's annoyance. Though it is revealed that her teacher came with her "spiritual partner", Rafi, who Angie becomes attracted to.

Peggy Loves Al, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah[]

  • Esteban tells Poncho and Angie that his Valentines' Day / wedding anniversary gift for Marilu is bringing over a mariachi band to serenade her.
  • Near the end, Angie convinces Poncho to finally say "I love you" by opening their bedroom closet and pulling out a tray of food from Carl's Jr., consisting of a Super Star Cheeseburger, Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. She also mentions that she had the cooks draw a little ketchup heart on the Super Star and specified double meat potions.

The Great Escape[]

  • The family has to deal with a cockroach infestation instead of termites.
  • Instead of seeing a trio of attractive women who came from aerobics class who eventually leave and go to Al's rival, Morty's, in this episode, only one woman named Sandra appears. Jonathan then proceeds to convince her to show him and Poncho some exercises, before trying to flirt with her.
  • Although the original MWC episode did not feature Luke Ventura, in this version, his Mexican counterpart, Luis, is shown talking to the Olivares family before exiting the store.
  • The guard dog that chases Alexa at the end is named after the biblical figure, Sansón, similar to how the original guard dog was named Satan.

Just Married... with Children[]

  • Instead of an architecture magazine and a chess game postcard from East Germany, the neighbors' mail that the Olivares family gets is a book on improving marital relationships.
  • The game show that the families appear in is called¿Qué tan grande es tu amor? (How Big is Your Love).
  • The game where fat women sit on Al is changed to a game where Poncho is placed into a punching bag while Angie uses large gloves to punch him.
  • While Steve in the original said that the kids sold their parents out for food, Esteban reveals that the Olivares kids sold them out for high speed internet access. Poncho then spots the kids in the audience and makes a threatening gesture towards Jonathan.
  • In the electrocution game, both Esteban and Poncho become unconscious from the shock. The host then tries to pull Angie away from the switch, but she fights him off and continues moving the switch as she approaches the maximum voltage, causing Poncho's headgear to explode and catch fire. As the host demands to cut the live transmission feed, Alexa celebrates that they have a new car, while the audience is horrified at what they just saw.

Build a Better Mousetrap[]

  • Instead of Peggy reading the newspaper in the opening scene, Angie is on her smartphone, as Alexa tries to get her attention to make breakfast.
  • The book that Bud original read "Know Your Mouse" is changed to "como domar a tu raton" (How to tame your Mouse).
  • Instead of wearing tan "Ghostbusters" style outfits with an oxygen tank and gas mask like Al and Steve, Esteban wears overalls with a cut up water jug as his mask, while Poncho wears coveralls with pink dishwashing gloves and a very small respirator and swimming goggles.
  • After being sprayed with poison, Esteban is unable to get up and lays on the floor, claiming to see the ghost of his grandmother, before attempting to hug Poncho, believing that he was Marilu.
    • In the original, despite being weakened from the poison, Steve was able to sit on the couch with Al and drink beer as Al told a story from his high school football years.

Father Lode[]

  • Poncho and Esteban went to a casino instead of a horse racetrack and won 20,000 pesos.
  • In the original episode, Al is forced to give Steve $50 in order to not tell Marcy about the winnings and calls him a "weenie", while in this version Poncho attempts to give Esteban the money to be quiet about the winnings without asking. He rejects Poncho's offer, claiming that he is not corruptible. Poncho then increases the amount and tells him that is for church donations next Sunday, to which Esteban accepts, claiming that he is but a humble servant of the Lord.
  • When Poncho finally gives his money out to the rest of the family, the kids are given 500 pesos each while Angie gives herself 2000 pesos, while in the original, Peg kept the cash while her and kids bragged about what they would buy.
  • At the end, similar to how Al claimed to Marcy that Steve was holding his money, Poncho does the same when Marilu confronts Esteban about the extra money. Though, Poncho then gives them a hug to thank them for holding "his" money, before giving Esteban some of the money back, telling him to donate it to the church on his behalf. After they leave, Poncho then looks up and thanks God for letting him keep the money.
