David Ruprecht (born October 14, 1948) is an American actor, writer, and game show host. He is best known for hosting the television game show, Supermarket Sweep from 1990 to 2003.

On Married... with Children, he appeared in the Season 2 episode, "You Better Watch Out" as Mr. Mallman.

Acting Career[]

Starting in the late 1970s, he has appeared in various films and television shows, such as The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island, St. Elswehere, Too Close for Comfort, Doogie Howser, MD, Team Knight Rider, The Drew Carrey Show and True Blood.

He has had recurring roles on show such as Three's Company, Small Wonder, Punky Brewster and Days of Our Lives.

In film, he best known for providing the voice of the Kobayashi Maru captain in the 1982 film, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

He has also appeared in various commercials for companies such as Amazon, Allstate, Albertsons and Texas State Optical.

In 1990, Ruprecht began hosting the second revival of Supermarket Sweep, which aired on Lifetime before moving to PAX in 1999. He held the job until the show's cancellation in 2003. In 2020, Ruprecht auditioned to be the announcer for the ABC revival of the show, with actress Leslie Jones taking over as host. Though as of 2022, it has been put on indefinite hiatus. Currently, the version hosted by Ruprecht can been seen on digital channel, Buzzr.

Personal Life[]

Ruprecht previously served on the board of directors for the Downsize DC Foundation, a political advocacy group that aims to limit the size of government. He is a former Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of California and a long-time member of Rotary International. He also hosted an interview with Libertarian presidential candidate Harry Browne in 2000 titled Harry Browne: The Great Libertarian Offer.

According to his website, he is also a member of the Writer's Guild of America, as he had written 5 episodes of the 1980s sitcom Small Wonder, as well as the screenplay for the 2003 film, Finding Home.

He has been married to director and choreographer, Patti Colombo since 1990. They currently reside in Northern California.
