Quotes[]

  • [Marcy panics when she sees she lost her ring. Peg grabs her by the wrist and runs to the dancers' stage door entrance, only to be stopped by the bouncer]
  • Bouncer: Whoa! Hold it right there, ladies!
  • Marcy: Listen, we've gotta get backstage.
  • Peggy: Yeah. We gotta get something out of Zorro's pants.
  • Bouncer: That old story again, Mrs. Bundy?
  • Marcy: But this is an emergency.
  • Bouncer: Yeah, right. Look, lady, we used to let women backstage until the big riot. Now nobody's allowed back there. We call it [looks directly at Peg] "The Bundy Rule".
  • Marcy: It's my wedding ring! I want it back or I'll see you court! [puts her finger in his face]
  • Bouncer: [scoffs and moves her finger away] I don't think so. You see, [points to a large sign on the wall and reads it out loud, emphatically] "TROY'S IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR VALUABLES LOST IN ANY PART OF A DANCER". Once again, [looks directly at Peg] "The Bundy Rule".

  • Marcy: Steve is gonna go crazy. My wedding ring is gone forever.
  • Peggy: Oh Marcy, calm down. Men don't notice things like that.
  • Marcy: Not Steven. He notices everything. Do you know what we do in bed sometimes?
  • Peggy: Yeah. Bud tells us.

  • Al: Oh by the way. If my wife should happen to lose anything down your pants, so will you.

  • Al: Oh, uh, Big Red. You know, I've been thinking. Remember about a month ago, one night when you came back from, uh... swapping recipes... strangely, how could I say? Uh, horny as a toad. That day I gave you some money to have the brakes on my car fixed. Do I have any brakes on my car, Peg?
  • Peggy: No, Al.
  • Al: [stands up in frustration] And remember you told me that the kids needed some money for a school project? We don't really sponsor a Korean family, do we, Peg?
  • Peggy: No, Al.
  • Al: And Kelly's contact lenses? [sits back down on the bench]
  • Peg: [tilts her head] Ehhh..
  • Al: So the big frost didn't really drive up the price of Tang?
  • Peg: [shakes her head to say "No]
  • Al: But we still do have the Bundy funeral plot?
  • Peg: Mmm [shakes her head to say "No]
  • Al: Well, how about the kids, Peg? Uh, did they really go to your mother's house or do they belong to Arabs now?

  • [Al finally gives Steve the wedding ring that Marcy had lost in Zorro's pants]
  • Al: But, getting back to something more important. How do we make her pay? [snaps his fingers] I got it! The next time she holds one of those "Women's Group Meeting" over at her house, you stroll in and say "Hey! Eight women in this house and I got dirty dishes?!" Let them get mad, pat the ring in your pocket and make the mark of the "Z" [gestures drawing a "Z" on his chest while grinning]
  • Steve: [holds up the ring and smiles] Al, I'm going to have a Stepford wife!
  • Al: [laughs and pats Steve on the back] Atta boy! [they both stand up and he grabs Steve's arm] But do me one favor. When you strip away every ounce of humanity, every shred of pride she has, just when she's bending down to kiss your feet, tell her you got the ring... [pauses] ...from Al Bundy. [smiles]
  • [They shake hands and smile with satisfaction just before Steve heads back home]

Notes[]

Title[]

  • "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is a famous song by Cyndi Lauper.

Trivia[]

  • Part 1 and 2 of this episode were originally shown as a one-hour episode.
  • In the original script this episode was not meant to be a two-parter.
  • Tracy Gamble, who co-wrote this two-parter, went on to create the ABC sitcom 8 Simple Rules, in which Katey Sagal plays the main character Cate Hennessy.
  • Richard Vaczy, who co-wrote this two-parter, later executive produced an episode of Matrimonio con hijos, the Spanish remake of Married... with Children and all episodes of Schastlivy vmeste (Счастливы вместе), the Russian remake.
  • Billy Hufsey, who plays Zorro, is best known for being one of the stars of the musical themed NBC television series, Fame, which had finished its final season 5 months before this episode aired.
  • This is the first episode where Al mentions the powdered drink mix, Tang, that is a staple in the Bundy household. In the previous season, the Tang bottle is re-labeled as "Tri-C"
    • Although it is specifically mentioned by name in this episode, the actual Tang bottle is not shown until a few episodes later in "Impo-Dent" as Al shows the kids how to make "Tang Wipe".

Cultural References[]

  • Peggy dubs Al "Speedy Gonzales" when she tells Marcy that she slept with him.
    • Speedy Gonzales is an animated cartoon character from the Looney Toons series of cartoons, portrayed as "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico".
  • Peggy mentions that Bud saw Marcy and Steve role-playing as Little Bo Peep and The Cop.
    • Little Bo Peep is a character from a nursery rhyme, typically pictured as wearing a pink and white dress and holding a shepherd's crook.
    • In the Season 11 episode, "The Desperate Half-Hour (Part 1)", Marcy comes into the Bundy Residence dressed as Little Bo Peep, and cites the first line of the nursery rhyme.
  • After Al suggest to Steve a way to get back at Marcy, Steve boasts that he's going to have a "Stepford Wife", referring to the 1975 movie The Stepford Wives.
    • The film was also the inspiration for the Season 11 episode, "The Stepford Peg".
  • Al mentions the orange flavored powdered drink mix, Tang.

Music[]

  • Peggy sings "Jingle Jangle Jingle" by Dick Thomas as she cleans the living room in the morning.

Locations[]

Sets[]

  • Troy's Nightclub
  • Bundy Living Room/Kitchen
  • Steve & Marcy's Bedroom

Goofs[]

  • In the scene where Peg cleans the living room and sees the kids off to their taxi, the necklace she has on is outside of her shirt. Peg's necklace falls beneath her red blouse after Marcy arrives and sits on the couch. It remains under in most shots, but in the last shot it is outside her shirt again, when Marcy says that it is an irreplaceable symbol of love between her and Steve.
  • As the kids leave, Peggy tells them "Remember, when you say 'hello', grandpa is the one with hair". However we see later that Ephraim Wanker is (and clearly has been) very bald.
