Quotes[]

  • Charlie: It's 3 o'clock in the morning. You're just coming back from the country club?
  • Vinnie: Yeah, I had to work this rich guy's party. All they did was complain about their wives and brag about their girlfriends. [scoffs]
  • Charlie: Ya know, guys like that make me sick! Here they are, they got a wonderful relationship with a terrific woman and they ruin it by talking about their wives.

  • Alixandra: Verducii! I hear you're dispensing financial advice to our members. That's like the Pope giving out sex tips.
  • Charlie: Hey, if you want the name of the stock, why don't you seduce it out of me?
  • Alixandra: [seductively] Oh, boy I'd like to get you in the sack!
  • Charlie: [smiling] Oh, yeah?! And then what?
  • Alixandra: [sternly] And then I'd throw in some real big rocks and throw you over a bridge! [turns and walks away]
  • Charlie: Does that mean the back rub is out?!

  • Charlie: [picks up the ringing phone] Hello... yeah, yeah, hold on a sec... its for you Vinnie... Heidi!
  • Mona: [gleefully as she skips to the phone] I'll talk to her!
  • Vinnie: No, no, no, no...
  • Mona: Hi, Heidi? Hi, Vinnie says he won't be able to go out with you tonight, cuz he's taking our kids to Chuck E. Cheese [a mortified Vinnie wags his finger at her] Bye! [hangs up] Tramp! [grins, in a mocking tone] It was Heidi! I guess you won't be yodeling in her mountains anymore! [turns and exits the apartment]
  • Charlie: I think she likes you!
  • Vinnie: Yeah, she's ruining my life!
  • Charlie: That's what happens when they like you!

  • [Charlie is yelling out the apartment window, announcing his two week resignation notice, and throwing out his clothing, believing that Vinnie invested the money he gave him earlier and they are now rich]
  • Carlotta: [offscreen] HEY VERDUCII! SHUT UP AND FIX MY PIPES!
  • Charlie: Hey Carlotta! Blindfold your husband and get him to fix your pipes!

Cultural References[]

  • At the beginning of the episode, Vinnie confuses the rich men calling corporate raiding a game with Donkey Kong.
    • A corporate raider is an investor who buys a significant amount of stock in a company whose asserts are undervalued. Because of the amount of stock they own, it would give the raider much more voting power that can then allow them to shape how the company will be run and increase their profits from it, be it selling their share later on for a higher price or merging the company with another company that the raider is also invested in.
    • Donkey Kong refers to a 1981 arcade game.
  • When Emmet escorts Lotus, Terry Lynn and Gina to the kitchen, he tells them that they can call him "Hef", in reference to Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy Magazine.
    • Coincidentally, Hope Marie Carlton, who played Terry Lynn, was Playboy's Playmate of the Month for July 1985
  • After seeing the loan shark, Vinnie and Charlie mention actress Michelle Pfeiffer.
  • Mona mentions the lingerie store Victoria's Secret.
  • After picking up the phone when Heidi called, Mona tells her that Vinnie is too busy and that they will be going to the family entertainment center Chuck E. Cheese with their "kids" instead.
  • After hanging up on Heidi, Mona mocks Vinnie by saying "It was Heidi! I guess you won't be yodeling in her mountains anymore!", which is in reference to the fictional character Heidi, a 5 year old girl who is raised in the Swiss alps by her grandfather.

Music[]

  • Charlie sings the opening lines of "Money (That's What I Want)" by Barrett Strong after Alixandra arrives at the Verducii apartment.
  • Several of the men at the country club sing "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" to Charlie after he helped them successfully invest their money.
