Quotes[]

  • [Charlie enters the apartment, covered in debris and carrying part of a ceiling with light bulb fixture attached to it. Stuie is standing nearby trying to hold his laughter back]
  • Vinnie: [concerned] Pop, are you alright?
  • Charlie: [sarcastically] Yeah, I forgot to use "Head and Shoulders" this morning and the flakes are enormous! [brushes the debris off of his shoulders]
  • Stuie: [laughing hysterically] You were always the funniest one in the family!
  • Charlie: Yeah, well my sister said on her honeymoon, you got even bigger laughs!
  • Stuie: [grins and walks up to Charlie] Maybe so, but at least with my sex life, there's someone else involved.
  • Charlie: Stuie, why don't you go back to your fish market and shove a halibut up your bass?!
  • Stuie: [hysterically] Ohhohoho [exits the apartment]

  • [Mona angrily marches into the Verducci apartment, accusing Vinnie of marrying someone in her dream]
  • Mona: I happen to take marriage very seriously!
  • Charlie: Well, you should, because marriage is like capital punishment. But at leas with capital punishment, you get a hot meal, a blindfold, and a speedy death.
  • Mona: Just promise me that you won't get married today.
  • Vinnie: Mona, I would never rush into marriage! I'm a one-woman man and I'm going to find that one woman, no matter how many hundreds I got to go out with. [smiles]
  • Charlie: [proudly] That's my boy!
  • Mona: Vinnie, there's something you got to understand: I like you so much, that if you get married without giving me a chance [marches up to Vinnie and pokes him in the chest], I will turn your life into a non-stop burning, churning, flesh-searing Hell! [calms down and smiles] Toodles! [exits]
  • Vinnie: What's happening to sweet, little Mona?!
  • Charlie: She's becoming a woman!

  • Vinnie: See, Pop, I don't know--
  • Charlie: Vinnie, Vinnie... I know what you want me to tell you... you want to know how to handle a wife, right? It's very simple: See, a wife likes to be treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. Now, you'll have a perfect marriage if you just don't expect any of those things in return!

Notes[]

Trivia[]

  • Interestingly this plot would be recycled, with some minor changes, in MWC's seventh season with the episode titled Wedding Show
    • That MWC episode involved Bud having sex with a character, played by Joey Lauren Adams, that he doesn't know is the bride.
  • First episode to feature Stuie, Charlie's brother-in-law and Vinnie's uncle.
  • Frank Lloyd, who at the time, played Al Bundy's friend Norris and also served as the in-house stunt coordinator on Married... with Children, plays Frank, the man who tosses Vinnie a gift while throwing himself over the table being carried into the reception area.

Cultural References[]

  • Charlie mentions Head and Shoulders, a brand of shampoo specifically used to fight dandruff.
  • As Emmet escorts a lady into the reception area, he mentions that he was a stunt double for actor Clint Eastwood and then references two of the actor's Spaghetti Western films, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars.
  • When Vinnie says he doesn't know much about Tyler, such as her beliefs, what she stands for or her favorite Simpsons character, she replies "Truth, justice, and Homer".
    • The Simpsons is a FOX animated sitcom, with "Homer" referring to Homer Simpson, the patriach of the family. At the time this episode originally aired, it aired on Sunday nights, alongside MWC and TOTH.
    • The line, "Truth, justice and Homer" may be a play on the catchphrase "Truth, justice, and the American way" that is used by DC Comics superhero, Superman.

Music[]

  • Emmet sings the traditional song "Bridal Chorus" (a.k.a. "Here comes the Bride").
  • Emmet sings "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" by Jerry Lee Lewis.
  • Emmet and Alixandra sing "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine
