Quotes[]
- Marcy: Well, Peggy, I see that your son is having a crisis, but do you have a second to help me out?
- Peg: Sure!
- Marcy: Would you let Al go away on a fraternity reunion?
- Peg: [sarcastically] You know, there is a question that comes up everyday! Why, so many of Al's college clubs and professional societies call him up to lecture... or just inspire the young, haha. So when "Phi Beta Crapper" calls... Oh, that's right! Al didn't go to college! [pats Al on the shoulder and starts talking in a mocking tone] What was that you chose instead, honey? Selling shoes, haha. And nobody does it better, baby! [pauses] Except everyone else who does it.
- Al: [chuckles, with a bitter look on his face] Nah, gee, Peg, I don't regret not having gone to college because after all, then I might not have married you. Then what would've become of me? I would probably just lived a an empty, meaningless existence, ordering hookers and pizza till I dropped dead, [with a big smile on his face] with a slice in my mouth and a greasy hooter in my hand, haha!
- Peggy: I want to see a movie with Mel Gibson's butt.
- Marcy: I want sensitivity.
- Jefferson: I want killings.
- Al: I want boobies.
- [They all start arguing and repeating their talking points, with Al talking the loudest]
- Al: Boobies. Boobies. Boobies. Boobies.
- Marcy: I want sensitivity. Sensitivity...
- Jefferson: I want killing! I'd love some killing! [mimes firing a tommy gun and them makes finger guns and shoots several rounds]
- Peg: I think Mel Gibson's butt would be a much better thing to see. Mel Gibson's...
- [Kelly comes downstairs; Marcy light nudges Peg with her elbow to stop as she notices Kelly. All but Al stop]
- Al: Boobies. Boobies. Boobies. [stops as he notices Kelly standing there and looks around in embarrassment] Um... Hi, Pumpkin.
- Kelly: You know, I haven't heard anybody chant that word since me and my girlfriends were standing around when this old guy in this Dodge drove by and... [pauses, then has a realization and becomes creeped out] Ew, Daddy!
- [A dance party takes place in the Bundy Garage, with Kelly, Seven, Bud, Al, and Jefferson, along with a dozen attractive women. Kelly dances her way towards Bud]
- Kelly: Hey Bud, come here... [pulls him aside] How did you get these girls to come here?
- Bud: I took your advice, Kel... I told them we were gay! [smiling gleefully]
- Kelly: Did you tell Dad and Mr. D'Arcy?!
- Bud: Nah, that's something for each man to discover on his own. [they both chuckle]
- [On the other side of the garage, Al and Jefferson dance together, strutting and bumping their hips, as a trio of blond women watch them dance and believe that they are a gay couple]
- Girl: It's sweet that they found each other.
Notes[]
Title[]
- The title is a reference to the saying "Fat Chance", meaning something has little to no possibility of success, as well as a college fraternity (or frat) that Bud tries to create in this episode.
Trivia[]
- Shanga Parker, who plays Bud's fraternity brother, Ahmed, would reappear on MWC a few episodes later this season in "'Tis Time to Smell the Roses" as Habib #1.
- As revealed by Marcy, Bud is now starting his sophomore year at a community college.
- Jefferson talks about going to hang out with his fraternity brothers and ogling women which Marcy opposes. Ted McGinley had previously starred in the 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds (and its sequels) as Stan Gable, a quarterback for the college football team and member of the Alpha-Beta fraternity who bullies the nerds of the Tri-Lamb fraternity.
- Al states that if he had gone to college he would have never met Peggy and instead, lived a life revolving around hookers and pizza.
- Peggy implies that she may have slept with a fraternity member just before her wedding to Al.
- Marcy implies that she also may slept with a fraternity member named Jim and is still mad that he never returned her calls.
- Kelly reveals that Al unknowingly once drove past her and her friends chanting "Boobies! Boobies!" at them.
- The rerun airing on ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks (such as Logo TV and Pluto TV) edits out the scene where Kelly becomes disgusted after realizing that Al had previously shouted out "Boobies! Boobies!" to her and her friends while driving past time and he then tries to blame it on Bud.
Cultural References[]
- Kelly and Al are shown eating Lucky Charms for breakfast. Kelly also says its slogan "They're magically delicious" while trying to steal from Al's bowl. Kelly had previously used a box of Lucky Charms and repeated its slogan to ward off Madame Inga's curse in "Psychic Avengers".
- When Bud is about to refill the "milk", he stops to look at the carton and asks "Did they every find this Lindbergh kid?", which is a likely reference to the kidnapping and death of Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr..
- Bud mentions that his frat will have "...so many college girls, Woody Allen will be knocking down our door", referring to the actor/director, who, at this time, was known for starting a relationship with the 22 year old adopted daughter of his then girlfriend at the age of 52.
- Al hints that he may take Bud for ice cream at Baskin-Robbins.
- When Bud is wearing a toga for his frat party Kelly says, "Hey, look everyone. It's 'Dorf on Golf'". This is in reference to the fictional character, Dorf, who was of diminutive height and starred in several direct-to-video comedic sports instructional films during the 1980s and 1990s.
- Dorf was played by MWC guest star, Tim Conway, who played Peggy's father, Ephraim Wanker in the later seasons of the show.
- Ahmed mentions that he is a fan of the singer, Barry Manilow.
- Peggy mentions that she wants to a film with actor Mel Gibson's butt. She has mentioned her infatuation with him in several previous episodes.
- After Kelly's presentation on men, Bud sarcastically thanks her and says "She Goes 'Duh' For The Money" in reference to the 1983 song, "She Works Hard For The Money" by Donna Summer.

Goofs[]
- The breakfast plate on the table constantly changes places. After Seven hands Peggy his breakfast plate, she puts in front of her bowl. When Bud comes down and they all consume their bowl, the plate is now by the edge of the table. After refilling the milk carton and walking towards the table, the plate is back in front of Peggy. When Bud gets up from the kitchen table and decides to start a fraternity, the plate is back at the edge of the table.
- The frat's snack table changes location multiple times. When Al crashes into their meeting, their food table is in front of Al's Dodge. After Al gets out of his car, the table is to the side of Al's front bumper and in a different position. When the guys pull up their pants and try to leave, the table is in front of Al's Dodge again.
- As Al pulls the car out of the garage, he returns to take a bowl of popcorn and drives off with it. Later Bud refers to his father taking chips.
- After Bud drank "Milk", he spilled a little on his shirt. The stains disappear and reappear between shots.
