A fruitcake (or fruit cake) is a cake made with candied fruit, and/or dried fruit, nuts, and spices, and (optionally) soaked in spirits. Fruitcakes are often served in celebration of weddings and Christmas.

In the United States, mass-produced fruitcakes are often the butt of jokes, both in television and real life. It is typically depicted as a cheap Christmas gift that is constantly passed around from one family to another because no one wanted it in the first place. Its high alcohol (or other preservative) content also allows it to last a long time, further contributing to fruit cakes being viewed as a joke gift that can be passed around for multiple years through multiple families.

Appearances on MWC[]

"You Better Watch Out" - A fruitcake was once made by a relative of the Bundy family, which had then been circulated as a gift to everyone in the family, finally ending up with a footprint on it because Al had punted it around the living room the year previous to the Bundys giving it to Steve and Marcy Rhoades.

"The Harder They Fall" - After Kelly returns to the kitchen with a piece of cheese from teh basement mousetrap, she tells Al and Bud that she also found some "large raisins" near the traps. Al then has her put the "raisins" on a napkin and says that he'll use them in Grandma's fruitcake.

"25 Years and What Do You Get?" - While digging up the backyard to find the necklace that Buck buried, Kelly comes across something and asks Al about it. He reveals that it is either a fruitcake that Grandma Wanker sent them last year for Christmas or "The black box from my wedding night"

"God Help Ye Merry Bundymen" - A fruitcake was awarded as a second prize in the neighborhood decorating contest, which Marcy refused out of anger, thereby allowing Bud and Kelly Bundy to take it instead.
