Gary Grubbs (born November 14, 1949) is an American actor, who is known for his distinct southern accent and often playing a police officer/sheriff, military officer, lawyer, dishonest politician or salesman.
He appeared twice on Married... with Children: as Delbert, a deputy sheriff in tiny Dumpwater, Florida, who was also the town kleptomaniac in the Season 2 two-parter, "Poppy's by the Tree (Part 1)" and "Poppy's by the Tree (Part 2)" and then as used car salesman, Cal Stevens in the season 11 episode "Requiem for a Chevyweight (Part 2)" .
Career[]
Gary has several film and television credits to his name, including his portrayal of attorney Al Oser in the 1991 Oliver Stone film JFK.
He appeared as George Russell on The Wonderful World of Disney's 1988 miniseries Davy Crockett: Rainbow in the Thunder starring Tim Dunigan.
Several of the television shows that he appeared in during the 1980s include Happy Days , Magnum P.I., Matlock, The Golden Girls, Silver Spoons, Family Ties and 227.
In the 1990s, Grubbs landed two notable (albeit short-lived) recurring television roles. On Growing Pains, he played George Brower, Luke Brower's (Leonardo DiCaprio) long-lost father, and on Will & Grace, he played Harlin Polk, Will Truman's (Eric McCormack) number-one client (during the first and second seasons only).
He also appeared in the FOX sci-fi series The X-Files, playing Sheriff Tom Arens in the 1995 episode, "Our Town". He also appeared in the 1998 film, The X-Files: Fight the Future as Fire Captain Miles Cooles. Other appearances in the 1990s include Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Major Dad, L.A. Law, Murder She Wrote
In the 2001 film Double Take, Grubbs played the role of CIA agent Timothy Jarret McReady, and cropped up a couple of times as the father of Winifred 'Fred' Burkle on Angel. More recently, he appeared in the recurring role of Gordon Bullit on the final season of The O.C..
From the 2000s onward, he has continued to appear on both television and film. Some of the major films he has appeared include Glory Road, Battleship, Deja Vu, Django Unchained, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, Concussion, and USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage.
On television, his more recent appearances include Glee, The Mentalist, NCIS, Bones, Criminal Minds, The Wizards of Waverly Place and Scream Queens.
Besides acting, he also works as a acting instructor in the gulf coast region.
Personal Life[]
Grubbs resides in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with his wife, Glenda (former Miss Mississippi 1972), and their two children, Molly and Logan.
