Gerry Cohen is a television director and musician who started in the Los Angeles entertainment industry as a script reader for Aaron Spelling. During the late 1970s and first half of the 1980s, He worked constantly in the world of music television. On everything from American Bandstand to ABC’s live-late-night comedy sketch series Fridays to the annual American Music Awards, he was able to work with many of the major rock music acts of the era including The Clash, Madonna, King Crimson, The Cars, Joan Jett and the Pretenders, Simply Red, Pat Benatar, Devo, Graham Parker, Kiss, Culture Club, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, the Stray Cats, Heart, Jefferson Starship, Eddie Money, and Kool and the Gang.[1]
He began his career as a stage manager and associate director on the television series Fridays, The Golden Girls, Who's the Boss? and Married... with Children, making his directorial debut on the latter series.
His other television credits include The Drew Carey Show, Unhappily Ever After, The Norm Show, The Help, Run of the House, George Lopez, Still Standing, Greddie, Anger Management and a number of other series.[2] His most recent credit was directing 11 episodes of the FOX sitcom, Rel from 2018 to 2019.
In addition, he has also had several small background / minor acting roles, such as Mr. Cohen, the commercial director in a Season 5 episode of Unhappily Ever After.

Cohen originally started on the show as an assistant director for seasons 1-3, before moving up to main director in season 2. He would eventually direct 156 episodes out of the show's 262 episodes.[3]
Additionally, he acted on show, playing the man that Kelly punches out in the MWC episode "England Show (Part 2)". He can also be seen in the MWC special, Backstage with the Bundys.
