Background[]
As Peggy and her friends, Renee, Sonya, and Marcy get their hair done, Ginger walks in. As she takes a seat, the four ladies start making snide remarks about Ginger's appearance. After Marcy is escorted off to get her hair done, the remaining three talk amongst themselves about their husbands treating them badly despite all the work they do to look good for them. Ginger overhears them and joins in, telling them that husbands are wonderful, as along as she's not married to them, implying that she is "the other woman".
As the trio give their full attention to Ginger, she further explains to them that husbands are happy to have women like her, as they will be grateful for the smallest bit of attention that she can give them and already have their spirits broken, making things easier for her. Peggy then asks if breaking her husband's spirits is actually part of the fun of marriage, but Ginger tells her the fun part (at least for herself) is the all the sex, cars and free condos.
Peggy then wonders how can a husband go out with with someone like Ginger when they have a wife and kids at home. Ginger tells her that men are clever enough to make an excuse to get out of the house, like bowling, which causing Peggy to start worrying. She then mentions that the man that she is currently seeing uses that excuses, while also describing his wife as a shrewd who doesn't cook or clean, making Peggy even more concerned. Just then, the salon employees asks if Ginger is ready for her hair color treatment, and tells her to make sure that it doesn't turn red, noting that her man gets sick at the sight of red hair. As she leaves, Sonya tells the salon that Al is cheating on Peg.
Back at the Bundy Residence, after Marcy leaves with her new hairdo, Peggy asks her daughter Kelly for advice, noting that Kelly has always been "the other woman" for as long as she can remember. After Kelly explains that she makes any man that she's with learn the art of covering up, such as covering up the scent of another woman and finding an excuse to explain their absence to their actual girlfriend. This eventually causes Peg to worry even more. Peggy goes so far as to have Marcy's husband go undercover as a bum at the New Market Mall, and spy on Al, as he been forced to work the closing shift at Gary's Shoes & Accessories for Today's Woman. Despite all things proving that Al is not cheating on her, Peg still insists that Al is cheating.
Sometime later, back at the salon, Peggy and her friends watch Ginger getting her hair trimmed. Peggy and Marcy work out a plan to get revenge on Ginger as well as the stylist who gave Marcy the terrible hairdo. Marcy silently covers the face of the stylist and drags her into a backroom while Peggy pretends to be the stylist, speaking with a high pitched nasally tone. As she starts to cut Ginger's hair, Peg asks how many husbands has she stolen. Ginger, who is busy reading a magazine, gladly replies between 10 to 12, but the year is still young and then brags that she's never been caught by their wives, even after having sex in their bedroom. Hearing this, Peggy decides to get really aggressive and chop off a large portion of her hair.
A few moments later, Al stops by and shows her his prized bowling ball that now has an axe right through it. Believing that Peggy did it because she is in a foul mood, he tries to convince her that she deserves a little more and offers to have sex with her on Saturday. She remains unconvinced about him not being a cheater and tries to introduce her to Ginger. After the two finally see each other, they both ask Peggy who the other one was. As Peggy asks Ginger if she really wasn't sleeping with Al, she laughs at the idea of her sleeping with someone like Al, noting that despite being "the other woman", even she still has standards.
