J.J. Johnston (born James William Johnston, October 24, 1933 - November 4, 2022) was a veteran theater and film actor, as well as a boxing historian and writer.
On Married... with Children, he made several appearances during its 11 season run as various characters.

Johnston, a former amateur boxer, was the author of several books on the history of boxing.

Acting career[]
J.J. had made appearances in numerous films, which include Fatal Attraction and The Principal (1987), Things Change (1988) Homicide (1991), JFK starring Kevin Costner (1991), Wikipedia:K-911 starring Jim Belushi (1999), Lakeboat (2000) and Redbelt (2008) (which also featured MWC star Ed O'Neill).
He often appeared in films and stage plays directed and written by David Mamet, beginning in the 1975 production of Mamet's American Buffalo and in the 1986 stage production of Glengarry Glen Ross.
According to IMDb, his last acting credit was in 2018, playing General Uriah Loveday on the TNT series, The Librarians.
He was, by his own admission, "fluent in Mametese".

He appear in several episode during the show's 11 season run, playing various characters, such as:
- Toy store owner Happy in the season 1 episode "Where's the Boss?".
- Louie, one of three ex-con acquaintances of Jefferson D'Arcy, who engage in a poker game with he and Al in the Season 8 episode titled "Luck of the Bundys".
- A security guard on the set of the fictional "Pease in a Pod" TV series, who becomes upset when Al tells him that Joe Piscopo is trying to inside the studio in the Season 9 episode "No Pot to Pease In".
- Mob henchman Bebe in the season 10 episode "The Hood, the Bud and the Kelly (Part 2)".
- The drill instructor, SSG Fletcher, in Season 11's "T*R*A*S*H".

Death[]
Johnston died on November 4, 2022 at the age of 89.
Similar to fellow MWC guest star Marilyn Kagan, the only news about his passing came from the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Special issue. His named was listed on the same memorial page as MWC guest star "Judo" Gene LeBell and actor Leslie Jordan, who co-starred in the MWC spin-off, Top of the Heap as security guard Emmet LeFebvre.
