Jimmy is a former boyfriend of Peggy Bundy and the father to Brian, who is dating Kelly Bundy in the season 2 episode, "How Do You Spell Revenge?".
He is played by John Dennis Johnston .
Description[]
He appears to be in his late 30s with brown hair, a receding hairline and a thick mustache. He seems to be a nice person at first, before coming off as a person who couldn't get over Peggy after she dumped him.
Background[]
Jimmy arrives at the Bundy Residence and immediately greets Peggy. She doesn't recoginize him at first and so, he gives her a hint, saying the night behind the aquarium when they were in high school. As it turned out, she had several encounters with men behind the aquarium in high school and he finally has to say his name for her to remember that particular night with him.
She lets him inside the house and introduces him to Al. Jimmy tells Al that he is a lucky man for marrying Peg and then reveals that he stopped by the house because he had looked her up and wondered what happend to her after high school. He gets up and as he looks around the house, boast how nice their house is, implying that he is rather poor.
Al sarcastially ponders how could Peggy not marry Jimmy, but he tells Al that she had dumped him. He further explains that just before the sophmore dance, he had a tuxedo, flower and a limo rented so they could go as a couple. But when he got to her house, he got there just in time to see her ride off on a motorcycle with another guy. Though Peggy quickly defends her action, saying that she didn't dump Jimmy, but rather she just went out the backdoor with a cuter guy and that it was just part of being a stupid teenager.
He tells Peg and Al that he can look back on it now and laugh, as he lets out a short and rather awkward chuckle, and then points out that she, in fact, was the love of his life. He gets up and says that he loved her so much, on the night of the dance, he wanted to show her something: a tattoo on his right upper arm of a heart with "Peggy" written across it. She is rather impressed that he would go so far to do that and then asks Al why he didn't do that for her. He quickly points out that, unlike Jimmy, he's not insane and then suggests that it is time for Jimmy to go home.
Jimmy tells them that he is leaving, but asks if they know how it feels to have a tattoo of someone who dumped you on their arm forever. Because of that, he tells them that he was forced to marry a woman also named "Peggy", but in contrast, she is comparable to a horse and is "The kind of woman that looks like she inhaled another woman". He then tells them that they all should be grateful for what they got, as Al got a Peggy who is beautiful and fun, while Jimmy got a Peggy who sleeps standing up.
Just before he goes, he reminds Peggy about the time that they went on a date to a fancy restaurant and he put a roach in the dish so they could eat for free. Peggy remembers and then points out that her daughter is going out with a boy who did that very same trick. Suddenly, Jimmy's attitude changes as he says rather coldly "I know" and reveals that Kelly's boyfriend is in fact his son, Brian and that his visit wasn't for visiting an old flame and catching up, but rather, to get his revenge on Peggy. He then smiles and says that he can truly laugh at the situation now as he leaves their house.
As they wonder where Kelly is, Bud comes home and reveals that she and Brian were going to get matching tattoos. Al grabs a baseball bat and promises to deal with both Brian and Jimmy. Kelly returns a short time later and reveals to Peggy that she didn't get a tattoo, as she decided to dump Brian while he was getting tattooed and take a ride with a cuter guy in his Domino's Pizza truck.
Al comes home later and after Peggy tells him that Kelly already came home earlier, he tells her that he followed Brian home and then broke down their door. As he was about to smash Jimmy's head open with the baseball bat, he saw the other "Peggy" emerge from the kitchen. Describing Jimmy's wife as having her face in a Jell-O mold, wearing a moomoo that was slit for her huge frame to fit in and not having any knees, he eventually decides to let Jimmy live, seeing that being married to a fat woman like that is truly the worst way that any man could live.
Jim is mentioned by Peggy again in the season 6 episode "The Mystery of Skull Island". When it's Peggy's turn to play Ethical Dilemma she lands on "Sexual Intimacy" which the card read: "If your lover was suddenly unable to perform anymore, and was a shoe salesmen, and named Al, and an old lover came back to town, would you have a sleazy affair with him?". After reading the part that said "an old lover came to town" Peggy says "I guess they mean Jim", which she laughingly answers "Yeah".
