Connection to the death of Beau Mann[]
In May 2023, several month after her death, an article from the Santa Monica Daily Press was covering the death of Beau Mann, a tech CEO who went missing in November 2021. His skeletal remains were found over a year later in May 2023 in an abandoned courtyard in Santa Monica, which was not far from where Joanne Goode resided. Mann was the co-founder and CEO of Sober Grid, a social network for those recovering from and suffering with addiction.[2]
Upon his disappearance, people began contacting Joanne, noting that his drop off point was close to where she lived, but she went on social media to deny the accusations, claiming that she had never even heard of him in the first place. She was also accused of taunting Mann's family and friends who simply wanted to know his whereabouts.[3][4][5]
James Terry, a private investigator hired by the Mann family, reveals that despite Mann's claims, he had been still using drugs. On the day of Mann's death, he speculated that he was going to either his local gym or Joanne Goode's house, as they were friends and both locations were a short distance away from each other. He then continued on to claim that Mann sent a text to 911 indicating that he was having some sort of medical emergency and died in Goode's house.
As Goode was also an addict and known to have to entered rehab for extended periods of time, Terry speculated that he may have died there and Goode choose to leave at some point. Terry also noted that Mann's laptop and backpack that was with him were missing, which would indicated that either Goode or someone else has disturbed his body at some point. He had hoped that Goode's apartment could have been searched upon her death in January 2023, but the landlord had cleaned it out afterward, making it hard to find the laptop that could bring closure to the case.[6]
