Kari Whitman (born June 21, 1964) is an interior designer, business owner, and former actress, model, and Playboy Playmate.

On Married... with Children, she played Muffy the attractive woman who appears in the first commercial for Al Bundy's shoe hotline in the Season 4 episode, "976-SHOE"

Early Life[]

After graduating from Fairview High School with the Class of 1982, she attended the University of Florida until she left before graduating to model for Elite Models.

In the late 80s, Kari pursued Business at the University of Florida, followed by drafting studies at UCLA.

Playboy[]

Under the name "Kari Kennell", she was designated "Playmate of the Month" for February 1988. She also appeared in the videos, Playboy: Playmate Private Pleasures and Playboy: California Girls.

In 2025, she appeared on the Life, Laughter, Happiness podcast with fellow MWC guest star and Playboy playmate, Barbara Ann Moore talking about how she her start in Playboy. In the podcast, she mentioned that she got her start by working at the Playboy Club while going to college in Florida.

Career[]

While spending time in Florida, Whitman appeared in two episodes of the action drama Miami Vice. After becoming interested in acting, she moved to New York to seek out more roles. Then in 1987 she moved to Los Angeles to further her career and had early parts in television commercials and comedy skits on The Tonight Show.

In 1991, she appeared in the film, Rock Video Girls, which offers an intimate look at the women who work as video vixens. The video also features MWC guest stars Kim Anderson and Beckie Mullen.

From the mid-1980s and throughout the 1990s, Kennell appeared in a variety of roles in television series, TV movies, and feature films. Some of these appearances include the action comedies Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and Men at Work (1990) and television shows Baywatch, In Living Color, Silk Stalkings, Nash Bridges, Renegade, and Murder, She Wrote.

Her last credited acting role according to IMDb was in an episode of The X-Files in 2002.

Interior Design[]

In 1994, she founded Kari Whitman Interiors, a design build firm specializing in high-end residential interior design. With a focus on eco- and pet-friendly design, she is considered one of Hollywood's most sought after talents. Her list of celebrity clients include Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, Nikki Sixx, Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas, Don Johnson, Virginia Madsen, Emilio Estevez, Don Henley, as well as the Royal family of Saudi Arabia

She was a designer on the cable series about home remodeling show called Dude Room in 2004, a precursor to her own design show. In May 2006, Kennell was given her own reality television show on the WE (Women's Entertainment) Television Network. The series was titled Designer To The Stars: Kari Whitman and featured her redesigning rooms within celebrity homes. The series aired in March 2007.

Personal Life[]

She is an advocate for the animal rights organization, PETA. In 2000, she founded Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue.
