Kenneth Danziger (January 12, 1945 - December 12, 2021) was a British stage and television actor and telephone counselor.
On Married... with Children, he played the Auctioneer in the Season 9 episode, "Sleepless in Chicago".
Early Life[]
Born in Essex, England, Danziger was brought to Los Angeles in his teens by his mother. He began theater studies at El Camino College. Returning to the U.K. to train at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, he then joined Joan Littlewood's Stratford East Theatre Company.
Career[]
In a career spanning 50 years, Danziger acted in roles for stage, film and television in London, New York and Los Angeles. He was an accomplished voice artist, working extensively in radio, video games, audiobooks and looping.
His film credits include The Holiday, Eragon, Stargate, Warlock, The Scout, Between Two Women, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, and Yellowbeard.
His television appearances include Nash Bridges, The Nanny, ER, Melrose Place, Who’s the Boss?, Empty Nest, and Murder, She Wrote.
Theatre credits include his Off-Broadway debut as Dad/Manager in Greek (Actors Playhouse) and regionally, as Major Murgatroyd in Patience (Antaeus Theatre), Dr. Alfred Feldmann in Duet for One (Chester Theatre), John Tillinger in Ashes (Fountain Theatre), and Lord Gordon in The Grace of Mary Traverse (Edgemar Center for the Arts).
Personal Life[]
For the last 20 years, Danziger devoted himself to the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center, where he became an accredited counselor, supervisor and teacher. He was able to use the wisdom, compassion and skilled listening from his years as an actor to train listeners that less is more, that words matter and can turn a story around, and that everyone can help prevent suicide.
For 42 years, he was married to his wife, Tina Scott, whom he met in London, before moving to the United States.
Death[]
Danziger died on December 12, 2021 at his home in Santa Monica, California. According to his close friend, June Stoddard, Danziger had been diagnosed with cancer six months ago.[1]
He is survived by his wife, Tina Scott.
