Modern Family was a family sitcom series on ABC that ran from 2009 to 2020 and starred Ed O'Neill. It was shot in a mockumentary style and focused on the Prichett family.

The Prichett family consisted of Jay, his second wife, his stepson and his two adult children, who have their own husbands and children. In later seasons, he becomes a father again with the birth of his second son.

Ed O'Neill's character on the series, Jay Pritchett, is once more a patriarch, although a far more overtly loving one than his MWC counterpart, Al Bundy. This may in part be due to the fact of a gorgeous wife a quarter century his junior (played by Sofia Vegara), one of Al's series-long dreams!

O'Neill appeared in all 250 episodes over 11 years, the same length of time that Married... with Children ran for.

Contrary to many fans' expectations, there have been no MWC reunions on the show, although many other notable sitcom actors have turned up, along with a range of unexpected guest stars.

In 2015, The Hollywood Reporter did a photoshoot with the cast of Modern Family to recreate several iconic television series. One of them was Married... with Children, with Ed O'Neill reprising Al Bundy and Sofia Vegara dressed up as Peggy Bundy. [1]
