Muldin's is a department store Peggy Bundy works at for a short amount of time during the events of "Peggy Sue Got Work".
Description[]
From what is seen and mentioned, the store has various departments. The one most prominently featured is the clock department, where Peggy works at and appears to be near the women's clothing department.
Muldin's also has a TV department but employees have to rise through the ranks in order to work there and men are preferred because they tend to waste less time watching Phil and Oprah on the TVs.[1]
Background[]
As Peggy wanted a VCR, she tried to convince her husband, Al Bundy to buy her one. The Bundy's neighbor, Marcy D'Arcy, sees Peggy's attempt and tells her that she should be direct with Al instead. After Al tells her no because he is the breadwinner and should have the final say, Marcy convinces Peg to let her help get a job, as a customer at her bank told of a recent job opening at the store. Although Peg is hesitant to do so, Marcy tells her she is a modern woman and the kids are not as dependent on her. Marcy then goes home and calls up the customer to get Peg the job.
Before she could start working she had to watch a training film called "Muldin's - The First 100 Years", in which the head of Mr. Pond, one of her many superiors, dotted the "i" in an aerial shot of the employees spelling out "Muldin's". William Shatner narrated the film after he was given a VCR.
On her first day, she becomes severely bored, especially after hearing two women talking about Phil and Oprah and teh need for a VCR. She then meets her supervision, Mr. Pond. She asks him if there are any openings in the television department, but he points out that the job would require more experience and that they prefer giving that position to men, as women who worked there before would tend to watch talk shows rather than do their job. Before Mr. Pond leaves, he reminds Peggy that she has to reset all the clocks in the store as it is the day before Daylight Savings Time.
After working there for awhile, the rest of the family sees the difficulty of Peggy working outside the house for a paycheck rather than being a housewife. Although they don't want to admit it, all of the Bundys (including Peggy herself) eventually admit that they want her to quit. Seeing that she is willing to quit, Al decides to cave in and buy her the VCR that she asked for. He then suggests that they can go to Muldin's and use her employee discount, but she then tells him that they might upset with her after pulling out a clock that she damaged.
In the Season 7 episode, "'Tis Time to Smell the Roses", after Al starts his retirement and sings "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)", Peggy returns home and has a bag from Muldin's.
