Nick DeMauro (December 29, 1943 - February 7, 2024) was an American actor, musician, martial arts instructor and former police officer.

On Married... with Children, he played the cop who arrested Steve and Marcy Rhoades in the Season 2 episode, "Guys and Dolls".

Early Life[]

Prior to acting, he had worked as a police officer in his native New Orleans. He was also an accomplished martial artist and instructor.

Acting Career[]

During his acting career, he often played a police officer/detective (reflecting his past career), mobster, or cab/bus driver.

Beginning in 1984, he landed roles on popular television shows such as Hunter, Remington Steele, St. Elsewhere, T.J. Hooker, and Knots Landing.

He had a recurring role on the sitcom, Webster as Benny, the owner of the soda shop who also serves as an umpire for the kids baseball team during seasons 4 to 6. Another recurring role was on the legal procedure drama, Matlock, where he played seven different characters, all named Charlie.

He appeared in the 1991 martial film, Hard to Kill (featuring MWC guest star Dean Norris) as mob boss Calabrese. He also appeared in Arthur 2: On the Rocks and Vampire Brooklyn.

He continued acting in various television shows throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, appearing in Growing Pains, ER, NYPD Blue, Sister, Sister, Brooklyn Bridge, Martial Law, 7th Heaven and Monk

In more recent years, he appeared on the shows Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Ray Donovan.

Music Career[]

Besides acting, he was also a singer and saxophone player who performed with his travelling orchestra called "Nick De Mauro and The Real Deal". The group played both in the US and abroad. His orchestra had the honor of playing an event honoring the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan.

He also showcased his singing and music skills in his appearances on Webster and Growing Pains.

Death[]

DeMauro passed away on February 7, 2024 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was 80 years old. A cause of death was not listed.

He is survived by his wife Donna, his sons Dean and Gino, and several grandchildren, along with his sister and several nephews and nieces.
