North To Alaska is a 1960 comedy Northern film starring John Wayne as Sam, a gold miner from Alaska sent by his partner to retrieve his French girlfriend in Seattle, Washington and bring her back north. The film also starred Kathleen Freeman, who played Peg's Mom.

On Married... with Children, it is referenced in the season 5 episode, Sue Casa, His Casa.

After Al realizes that he's not going to be able to afford $50,000 in 30 days following the lawsuit they lost, he decides to leave the family behind and become a logger. As he says goodbye to Buck, Buck starts to whimper and he decides that "a logging man needs a logging dog". As Al and Buck walk out the door and begins to sing the opening them to North to Alaska, the sound of a car is heard along with Al's scream as it hits him.

Following the accident, it is shown that Buck narrowly missed being hit, but Al ended up being launched 40 feet into the air and then attacked by a Doberman after landing on its food bowl. The driver who hit Al paid off the $50,000 the Bundys owed. Sadly, as Al didn't have health insurance, he missed out on having a sexy, blond nurse take care of him at the hospital and is left to recover at home.
