- Bud: GIVE ME THAT MONEY! [puts Al in a bear hug and drags him inside as Kelly and Peg advance forward]
- Al: GET OFF OF ME! [tries to swat his family away] YOU SAVAGES!
- Peg: I CAN'T BELIVE YOU'D LET US GO WITHOUT OUR ALLOWANCE!
- Al: Here's your stinkin' allowance! [flings several crumpled dollar bills and loose change onto the floor]
- Peg, Kelly and Bud: OH!
- [the trio drop to the floor and starting grabbing the money as Al watches and staggers to the front door]
- Al: Another Hallmark moment [as Al shuts the door, a horrified Marcy is standing there watching the trio grab the money]
- [Marcy intervenes after seeing Peg try to fight Kelly for loose change]
- Marcy: This is a disgrace, [turns to Peg] even for you! Groveling on the floor for... [pauses, then smiles as she notices something and kneels next to them] Oh, look! [picks up a coin and holds it up] "See a penny, pick it up. All the day, you'll have good..."
- [Marcy is interrupted as Peg, Kelly and Bud dogpile on her to steal the penny]
- Marcy: GET OFF ME! But I believe the rest of that money you took was in my pockets!
- Peg: [with her mouth full of coins] PROVE IT!
- [Kelly checks herself out in the mirror as the Gutter Cats head towards the casting area]
- Drummer: [excited] Oh, man, we're gonna look at sluts!
- Singer: They're not sluts, they're ladies. [the guys come to a stop] OK, which ladies are here for the slut?
- [Kelly emerges and stands in front of the band with a big smile on her face, as she is now the only girl left at the audition]
- Guitarist: One slut?! That's all we get?! Tsch! [the guys shake their head in disappointment]
- Bassist: [disappointed] I though we were famous.
- Drummer: [to Kelly] What he means is, you got the part.
- [Kelly smiles as she jumps up and down, then stops to straighten her dress and strike a pose]
- [Steve and Al are eagerly watching the local news as they cover the auditions for the Guttercats music video]
- Steve: Hey, look at that blonde all over the singer like a coat. Oh boy, I'd like to give her a... [regretful] Oops, sorry Al, that's your daughter.
- Al: [yells at the TV] Kelly, stop that! Stop that, Kelly! Hang on Pumpkin, Daddy's coming.
Notes[]
Title[]
- The title of this episode is a reference to the 1985 song, "Rock and Roll Girls" by John Fogerty.
Trivia[]
- This is David Garrison's last appearance in the series as a regular cast member; he would return four times as a guest star.
- Although this was his final appearance as a regular cast member, the final episode he filmed before his departure from the show was the previous episode.
- As evidenced by the production code, this was the fourteenth episode produced for the season, though it was the the fifteenth episode aired.
- Kelly gets her first job in this episode.
- Bud becomes Kelly's agent for the first time in this episode.
- Chuck E. Weiss makes his second appearance on MWC in this episode as the Bum.
- Dan Tullis Jr., who played Officer Dan in the later seasons of MWC appears in this episode as a sheriff who writes Al a ticket.
- He was also the sheriff in "976-SHOE" who was seizing Peggy’s credit cards.
- Steve reveals that he was briefly in a rock band in high school called the "The Tuxedos" and played Sousaphone
- Adolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quinones, who plays Cecil, the music video director in this episode, is probably best known for his acting roles in the 1980s as "Ozone" in Breakin and its sequel, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Cultural References[]
- While Al and Steve watch TV for the "Rock Slut" auditions, the TV announcer mentions that young women are coming from as far away as "Bloomfield Hills, Michigan" to audition. This is a reference on Terry Rakolta, a woman who fought for the show's cancellation.
- The Gutter Cats was a real glam-rock band from the famous Sunset Strip music scene in Los Angeles, whose greatest achievement was their appearance in this episode.
- The Gutter Cats music video in this episode is based off a trio of music videos done by Whitesnake the band from the 1987 album "Whitesnake" and featured Tawny Kitaen.
- Tawny Kitaen later played Dominique in the season 9 episode, "Shoeway to Heaven."
- During the auditions, Bud introduces himself as "Bud Jagger Richards" referring to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, members of the 1960s group The Rolling Stones.
Music[]
- The song, "Decoy Woman" by The Gutter Cats is played in this episode, as it is also the music video they film with Kelly.
Locations[]
- Bundy Residence
- Soundstage
Sets[]
- Bundy Living Room / Kitchen
- Video Audition Set
- "Decoy Woman" music video set
Goofs[]
- The newscaster says that many women attended the audition and had footage of Kelly dancing with the band which alerted Al. Yet there was no camera crew there when Bud and Kelly arrived to indicate the audition was being recorded for the news. Plus only a handful of women originally showed up and eventually, Kelly was the only one left for the band to see and they automatically gave her the role.
- It was never stated how Al knew exactly where the music video was filmed at or how he was able to easily walk onto the set while filming.
- It is quite possible that Al beat up the security guard, just like he beats up Kelly's boyfriends.
- Al's scene in the music video shows it was filmed sometime in the mid-day. Yet, the audition would have occurred around that time and assuming the video was filmed the same day, mostly like began towards the afternoon or evening.
- When Peggy hands out the money at the end of the episode, Kelly ends up with $1500. Bud then tells Kelly that she has to give him his cut which comes out to $400. Yet, earlier in the episode, she stated that as her agent, Bud is entitled to 80% of her pay. That would mean his total cut should have been $1200. For Bud to take $400 from Kelly's pay, that would mean his actual cut was about 27%.
- Alternatively, this could have been an joke about peg’s lack of math skills. If so, Bud decided not to correct her.
