Sharyn Leavitt (née Lane, April 15, 1949 - March 7, 2005) was an American actress, producer and songwriter. She was the ex-wife of Married... with Children co-creator, Ron Leavitt.
On MWC she appeared in two episodes during Seasons 5 and 6. She also starred in the MWC spin-off, Vinnie & Bobby as Winnie the mail carrier.
Acting / Producing Career[]
She began acting in 1991, playing a nurse in Rachel Gunn, R.N. (a show created by MWC writer Katherine Green and featured several MWC guest stars), an angry video store customer in Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and a jury foreman on L.A. Law.
Her last credited role was as Nurse Jackson in the 2000 film, Sordid Lives , which she also produced and provided the soundtrack. The film, which also featured actor Leslie Jordan from the MWC spin-off, Top of the Heap, was done in partnership with writer/director Del Shores, under their Delane Entertainment banner.
Lane produced Shores’ plays “Southern Baptist Sissies,” which won the 2001 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding L.A. Theater Production as well as “The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife” in 2003, which won several awards. She also co-wrote the lyrics for “Trials.”
MWC and Vinnie & Bobby[]
On MWC, she first appeared in the Season 5 episode, "Route 666 (Part 2)" as Yetta, one of the tourists at Hellhole National park who complains about the Bundys and D'Arcys before she and the rest of the visitors are robbed. Then in the Season 6 episode "If Al Had a Hammer", she played Harriet, one of the pregnant members of W.O.M.B., who complains that she has an itch that her husband refuses to scratch.
On Vinnie & Bobby, she played Winnie, the mail carrier who drops off mail at the construction site that the guys work at and flirts with Vincent "Vinnie" Verducci. She appeared in six of the seven episodes.
Music Career[]
She owned Nashville-based Zamalama Music, which won an ASCAP publishing award for the country hit “Home To You” by John Michael Montgomery. She also wrote many original songs with Nashville songwriters including Kacey Jones, Rich Fagan and Mark McGuinn and exec produced Jones’ Curb release “Men are Some of my Favorite People,” which included four original songs co-written by her.
In 2005, she re-teamed with Jones, co-writing the title song on the ISO Records release “Every Man I Love is Either Married, Gay or Dead.” She also contributed several tracks on the soundtrack for the movie Sordid Lives.
Death[]
She died on March 7, 2005 in Los Angeles, California from pancreatic cancer and was a few weeks away from her 56th birthday. She is buried at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California, next to her ex-husband, Ron Leavitt.
She is survived by her two children, Matt and Samantha.
