At the beginning of the episode, Firestone mentions that Al Bundy was supposed to appear and do an interview with him, but was currently at the hospital in the intensive care unit. Fellow sports commentator Howie Long explains to Firestone that prior to Al's trip to the hospital, he and Al were at a Chicago area sports bar. Al had been partaking in karaoke and singing a song by The Village People, while also mocking Long's trademark flat top hair cut.
