The Lundys are a family that Al Bundy had to deal with after being forced to work as a gas jockey in the Season 6 episode, "The Gas Station Show".

The family consist of husband and wife, Jim and Betty, and their two children, Betty Jr. and Jim Jr. They are portrayed as a happy and loving family until Al sabotages their car.

Background[]

After the other Bundys left Al behind to work at a gas station (in order to pay off the food that they ate in the store during their planned "Bundy Sunday Funday"), the Lundys pull up to the station in their Jeep Renegade, running over Al's foot in the process. Upon noticing Al's shirt with the name tag "Habib", the family tell the injured Al, "May the Prophet smile upon you, Habib".

Jim then asks Al to check the engine, explaining that it is not to demine Al and his gas jockey job, but rather to ensure his family's safety during their drive. As Al begins to examine the vehicle's engine, each of the Lundys express their love for one another out loud, making Al sick to his stomach.

Jim tells his family that he has a surprise for them. Jim Jr. asks if the surprise was going to the gas station and getting full service, but Jim immediately laughs at that very notion, indicating that no decent father would ever do that to his family. Upon hearing that, Al becomes upset, as he had just done that very same thing with his own family for "Bundy Sunday Funday". Jim then explains that the surprise is that they will be going on a picnic for "Lundy Sunday Funday", which enrages Al enough to suddenly rip out part of the engine's hose with his bare hands and throw it aside.

As the family begin to express their love for each other once again, Al interrupts them and tells them that it will be $5 for the service. Jim plays Al, but after Betty asks if they should also add in a tip, Jim decides not to do so and drives off. As Al watches them drive off, the sound of air leaking is heard before the Jeep suddenly crashes into something and a hubcap rolls towards Al. Al gleefully watches the family as they get into an argument offscreen:

  • Betty: I told you we should've taken my car!
  • Jim: Your car?! Since when did you ever pay for anything?!
  • Jim Jr.: Leave Mom alone!
  • Jim: Drop dead, the lot of 'yas!

Smiling at the mayhem he just cause, Al quickly salutes them and walks off.
