Three Times a Lady is a 1978 pop song written by Lionel Richie and performed by The Commodores.
On Married... with Children, it is heard in the Season 1 episode, "Al Loses His Cherry".
Background[]
The lyrics depict a man thanking his wife for being in his life and how much he cherishes her. They were inspired by a speech that Richie's father gave at his wedding anniversary party, declaring how much his wife means to him. Richie then sought to write a song to reflect how much his own wife meant to him.
Usage on Married... with Children[]
In the Season 1 episode, "Al Loses His Cherry", as Al Bundy arrives at Gary's Shoes & Accessories for Today's Woman, he spots his co-worker, Luke dancing with a customer named Delilah and singing the song's chorus to her while assuring her the shoes she tried on are perfect for dancing. Al asks him what was he doing and Luke informs him since they both work on sales commission, he needed to go the extra mile.
Lyrics[]
Thanks for the times that you've given me
The memories are all in mind
And now that we've come
To the end of our rainbow
There's something I must say out loud!
Your once, twice
Three times a lady
And I love you
Yes, your once, twice
Three times a lady
And I love you!
When we are together
The moments I cherish
With every beat of my heart
To touch you, to hold you
To feel you, to need you
There's nothing to keep us apart
You're once, twice
Three times a lady
And I love you!
I love you !
