Yes, I'm Ready is a 1965 soul/R&B song by singer, Barbara Mason.
It is heard on Married... with Children in the Season 3 episode, "The Dateless Amigo"
Background[]
Written by Mason at the age of 18, the lyrics depict the innocence of adolescence and falling in love. It is considered a major part of the Philadelphia Soul sound.
The song was later covered in 1979 by Teri DeSario as a duet with Harry Wayne Casey from the band, KC and the Sunshine Band.
Appearance on MWC[]
The song is heard in "The Dateless Amigo" twice. First it is played when Bud Bundy attempts to look like he was in a make out session to impress his friends, Teddy and Boz when they arrive at the Bundy Residence with their dates.
The second time, it is played as Bud slow dances with Monique while the other girls dance with each other, leaving Teddy and Boz to sit on the couch by themselves.
In both instances, only part of the opening and first verse is heard as the dialogue between the teens drowns out the song.
Lyrics[]
Male backups:
(Are you ready?)
Female backups:
[Yes I'm ready]
Male backups:
(Are you ready?)
Female backups:
[Yes I'm ready]
Mason:
I don't even know how to love you
Just the way you want me to
But I'm ready [ready] to learn (to learn)
Yes, I'm ready [ready] to learn (to learn)
To fall in love, to fall in love, to fall in love with you
I don't even know how to hold your hand
Just to make you understand
But I'm ready [ready] to learn (to learn)
Yes, I'm ready [ready] to learn (to learn)
To hold your hand, make you understand
To hold your hand right now
I don't even know how to kiss your lips (kiss your lips)
At a moment like this
But I'm going to learn how to do
All the things you want me to
(Are you ready?) Yes, I'm ready
(Are you ready?) Yes, I'm ready
To fall in love, to fall in love, to fall in love right now
(Are you ready?) Yes, I'm ready
(Are you ready?) Yes, I'm ready
(To kiss me?) Yes, I'm ready
(To love me?)
To kiss you, love you, and hug you
Baby, I'm ready
